The Oddity House Supply Swap

is a relaxed community event where makers, artists, crafters and small business owners can swap supplies they no longer need for something they'll actually use.

Whether you're clearing out the craft room, finally saying goodbye to shipping supplies or that bag of mixed buttons, this is a chance to give useful items a second life while meeting other creative people in the community. 

Date: Sunday 16th August

Time: 1:30pm-2:45pm

Location: Showcase Room, Botany Library

How it works

Bring along craft, art or small business supplies that are in good, usable condition. Stuff that you aren't using that somebody else could. 

When you arrive, you'll be given your own numbered section of the swap table to display your items. You're welcome to refill your section throughout the swap

Once everyone has finished setting up, the swap officially begins! Everyone is free to browse the tables/table and take what they'd like. 

There is no one-for-one swapping or negotiating required, this is more of a community destash than a barter/trade event. 

Community Tables

Alongside the main swap tables you'll also find a few shared community areas

Bubble Wrap Box

This is where the bubble wrap you've been saving up but will likely never use can go. Feel free to add yours into this box and PLEASE feel free to take as much from it as you'd like.

Community Share Table

This table is for finished product, samples, discontinued stock, b-grade items that you'd like to see go to a home instead of sitting in storage. 

Ideas of what to bring

• Fabric, Sewing notions, tools
• Yarn, knitting and crochet supplies
• Beads and jewellery- making supplies
• Cardstock, washi, paper craft supplies
• Stickers, stationary
• Packaging, bubble mailers, gift boxes
• Display items/market equipment or decorations
• Tools and brushes
• Items for photoshoots, content etc
• Moulds
• Paint, dye, resin

Please don't bring

• Broken or unusable items
• Dirty or mouldy supplies
• Dried out items like dried paint
• Hazardous or smelly materials
• Expired products

A few simple guidelines

The goal is for everyone to leave feeling like they found something exciting and were able to find new homes for some of their old supplies

Please help make that happen by

• Giving everyone a chance to browse before clearing out a single table or section 
• Bringing something to the swap, you do not need to come with armfuls of stuff but you do need to contribute something
• Be respectful of other attendees and their belongings
• Asking before opening sealed items or kits
• Labelling items and or grouping items that have multiple parts where possible
• Cleaning up your space before leaving
• Please bring only items you are prepared to take home if they do not find a new owner on the day. 

This is a relaxed, community focused event. Kindness, patience and consideration go a long way. 

Anyone behaving in a way that is a abusive, intimidating, disruptive or disrespectful will be asked to leave.

Tickets

Attendance is free but spaces are limited, so please "purchase" a ticket if you like to attend. 

If you can no longer make it, please email or message so offer that spot to someone else.

Koha

This event is free to attend

If you'd like to help cover the cost of hiring the venue, you can add a Supply Swap Koha to your cart (if you'd prefer to do so online) or there will be a koha box available on the day. 

Any support is greatly appreciated but not necessary

August Giveaway

Everyone attending is welcome to enter the Oddity House August Giveaway while they're there. Scan the QR code to join the newsletter, fill out an entry ticket with your details and pop it in the giveaway jar. The winner will be drawn at the end of the month.
